Dear WINOs--we're happy to announce the first event of the Napa/Sonoma WINO chapter's new year! On Saturday, April 10, we'll visit southern Mendocino county for a few stops in and around Hopland. Our first stop of the day is at 10 am at Saracina Vineyards (11684 S.Hwy 101, Hopland), where we'll have a tasting in their caves. From there we'll go to Jeriko Estate at 11 am (12141 Hewitt & Sturtevant Rd., Hopland), where we'll sample their still and sparking wines. At 12 noon it's on to Jaxon Keys Winery (10400 Hwy 101, Hopland); formerly known as Jepson, Jaxon Keys has been fully renovated, including a lovely 19th century farmhouse, by the Wilson Wine Group (deLorimier, from our Oct.'09 excursion, is also a Wilson winery). Lunch will be at the Crushed Grape at 1 pm, located in downtown Hopland at the Old School House center, where our menu will include a choice of four items from their regular offerings. Their corkage fee is $15, waived if you first buy a bottle from their list of reasonably priced local wines, so you might want to plan on teaming up with others for some interesting combos. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating; the weather will determine our choice on the 10th. For those inclined to prolong the visit, the Old School House center includes several tasting rooms, Brutocao Cellars among them. The cost of the day will be $30 PER PERSON for WINO members, $35 for guests. Paid reservations should be mailed (and payable) to Rodrick M. Arriaga at 1378 - 38th Ave., San Francisco, CA 94122, and should be mailed in time to reach me no later than April 2, 2010. The sooner the better, of course. You may direct any questions to me at 415-317-5643. On behalf of the Gang of Four, Dennis, Olga, Rita and myself, I look forward to seeing you next month! Rod Arriaga, WINO Co-Director
